A Showcase on the Arts

At St. Michaels University School, there are many ways to shine a light on your interests in visual and performing arts.

Music is deeply embedded in the culture of the school – from the orchestra to the annual school musical performed at a professional theatre – and SMUS is a place where your talents and skills can really develop. Need a space to turn up your guitar amplifier? You’ll be able to rehearse in the Schaffter Hall music building on campus, which has dedicated practice rooms.

Of course, music isn’t the only way to engage in the arts on campus. From creative writing to sculpting to game design – students express their creativity in many different ways. For example, visual arts has a long history at the school. We offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses in Art History and Studio Art and students have won architecture and fashion design competitions. Students also regularly exhibit their art around the city of Victoria.

But perhaps the best part of being creative at the school is the enthusiasm with which you will be greeted. Whatever art form you choose, whatever your skill level, you will find a willing and supportive audience. You don’t have to be the star of the musical to be appreciated at SMUS.

How do you like to express yourself? Be sure to tell us in your entry, due by December 1, 2023.
